Matt Flinders

Catch up with the latest podcasts of social science talks at the British Library. These include one by Professor Matthew Flinders FAcSS, University of Sheffield, author of Defending Politics. He spoke on ‘The Problem with Democracy’ in which he examines the apparent shift from healthy scepticism to corrosive cynicism, and whether it has more to do with our unrealistic expectations of politics than a failure of democratic politics. The evening was chaired by the Rt. Hon Peter Riddell CBE, Director of the Institute for Government. It is the first lecture in the series ‘Enduring Ideas’, organised by the Academy of Social Sciences and the British Library.
