CIPHER is the Centre for Improvement in Population Health through E-records Research, hosted by Swansea University. It is one of the four UK-wide Centres of Excellence that make up the Farr Institute of Health Informatics Research, founded in 2013.

CIPHER is a multinational research partnership between academia, the UK national health service (NHS) and industry, focused on improving the lives of patients and the population through informatics. It has good connections with social researchers in the Welsh Knowledge and Analytical service, whose members regularly attend its annual meeting and sit on its advisory board.
